December 2014 Boat Trip from Daytona to Fort Lauderdale

This page explains our latest travels by water that will begin December 28th 2014, weather permitting.  The adventure of setting out on long trips by water is both thrilling and relaxing at the same time.  We kept the boat name Promise because we feel we have been completely blessed by our savior Jesus Christ and he allows us to have health and the money allowing us to live life at it’s fullest.  We are always willing to share our faith and explain further if you are interested.

The first picture if our arrival in Daytona after leaving snow and sub zero temps in Indiana.  We launched the boat November 20th (pictured below)

Promise is a 2001 31ft Tiara open we purchased in the spring of 2013 after selling our sailboat in December of 2012.  Promise had very low hours but needed updated electronics and new canvas.  We spent the winter of 2013/14 updating the systems, cleaning and waxing.  We had a new trailer built to allow us to haul it to and from Florida with our dually F350 truck

The trip:

We started early morning Monday December 29th.  The first day was all down the inter-coastal waterway (ICW).  We made it to North Palm beach the first night just before dark.  The next morning we were able to travel by sea to Hillsboro Inlet where we spent the night at Lighthouse Point Marina where we spent the day and evening connecting with some old friends.

The next morning we traveled by sea to Fort Lauderdale where we spent the remainder of our time.

We started the trip home the morning of January 3rd.  We tried to go by sea but when faced with 8ft waves at the Lauderdale inlet turned around and traveled the entire way by the ICW.

The first day we made it to Fort Perce and the following day back to Daytona.  We used a tracking device that shows our travels below:

This trip was our longest with any powerboat and the boat did very well with no maintenance issues the entire trip.  As we return home, thank all our family and friends who took the time to come by and see us while in Florida.
